Update: Singapore publisher to recall Chinese books with pentagram
Of all the possible shapes they could have used, one textbook designer settled on a bloody pentagram to teach primary school students Mandarin.
An alarmed Redditor today highlighted the blood-splattered pentagram used to represent 鈥渟hapes鈥 in a Primary 2 Chinese text meant for 8-year-olds.
鈥淒idn鈥檛 know Satanist symbols were part of learning Chinese for primary school students,鈥 Themoltenbeacon wrote.
The symbol appeared alongside words such as a 鈥渢riangle鈥 and 鈥渟cotch tape,鈥 for which more accurate visuals were used.
黑料社 have reached out to local publisher Marlinsons for comment.
The textbook said it was 鈥渂ased on [Ministry of Education] syllabus鈥 and suitable for students learning advanced and normal Chinese.
