Tour some of the city鈥檚 coolest buildings, learn to practice sustainability and more this weekend when Singapore鈥檚 annual festival celebration of design and architecture returns, this time to locations across the city.

Archifest will offer more than 100 events including art exhibitions and heritage tours both islandwide and starting Friday.

This year鈥檚 theme, Design Evidence, explores how architects create meaning in their designs using 鈥渢he complex parameters of our world.鈥 Festival-goers will also see the beauty of architecture and design evident in everyday living.聽

鈥淒esign Evidence is an invitation to debate, discover and redefine what architecture could be. We believe that bringing together a diversity of voices is a step towards a more inclusive dialogue. Archifest is curated by architects for everyone to enjoy – whether you are a designer or not,鈥 festival director Razvan Ghilic-Micu said in a news release.

The jam-packed festival, organized by the Singapore Institute of Architects, will offer walking tours of Singapore鈥檚 architectural wonders, kayaking through the Sembawang mangroves and midnight heritage tours in Geylang. There will also be workshops on 3D printing, urban farming and raising chicks at home.聽

Online virtual events include art exhibitions showcasing works by architecture students, as well as films on topics like urban self-sufficiency, alternative architecture and Feng Shui.

A three-day virtual conference starts Oct 12. featuring speakers such as Rossana Hu, Chinese architect and founder of architecture and design firm Neri & Hu; Xavier De Kestelier, design head at London鈥檚 architecture firm Hassell; and Ong Ker Shing, principal of Lekker Architects Singapore and director of the National University of Singapore鈥檚 Bachelor of Arts architecture program.

The festival promises that everything will take into account the impact on the environment, inclusive for all, and involve a myriad of fields.
