Yet another business has bit the dust due to the economic impact of COVID-19, this time the popular and culturally on point cafe Gallery & Co. on the ground floor of the National Gallery.聽

With more people staying home and global travel all but kaput, the store that opened with the gallery in 2015 hasn’t been able to keep up, its business is being liquidated.聽

鈥淭he company鈥檚 assets and liabilities will be organised accordingly within the appropriate legal framework in the fairest way possible by a neutral third party,鈥 it said.聽

The art and lifestyle concept store-cum-cafe is known for selling gallery souvenirs, local brand collections, and other fashionable purveyors such as Switzerland鈥檚 Freitag and Italy鈥檚 Retrosuperfuture sunglasses.

The store is a partnership between the National Gallery and design collective & Co. It joins the thousands of businesses to close shop this year.聽

According to Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry Chee Hong Tat in June, about 3,800 companies since April.聽
