Malaysia’s first physical COVID-19 photo exhibition has opened in Kuala Lumpur’s Publika Gallery.
The free photo exhibition named Bridging The Distance: Making Us Stronger runs every day from today until the end of this week, from 10am to 10pm. The photos tell a visual story of the nation’s response to the coronavirus outbreak since the start of the nationwide lockdown on March 18.
Photos capture the daily lives of frontline workers, ministers, and regular Malaysians amid the pandemic, through the eyes of various photographers.
Organized by local visual art collective Fergana Art, the exhibition showcases more than 100 photos from 70 photographers who are also members of a union of emerging Malaysian photojournalists known as The Biddy’s. Viewers are required to stand behind the tapes pasted on the floor to ensure a safe distance from the photos.
The exhibition was officially launched on Saturday and attended by the Minister of Communications and Multimedia Saifuddin Abdullah.
