A woman who tried to save her boyfriend from a horrendous car wreck that killed five is back for another long stay in the hospital today.
Nine months after her heroics captured public attention, Raybe Oh Siew Huey announced last night that she will be hospitalized a month to undergo surgery for severe burns suffered trying to pull her fiance and four other male passengers from their burning vehicle at a Tanjong Pagar shophouse.
鈥淭hank you guys for the kind msg. I鈥檓 back at the hospital again. Gonna stay for a month this time,鈥 she wrote.
Oh, who suffered severe burns to 80% of her body, was warded in the intensive care unit after the accident and discharged in June. She did not specify the nature of the procedure she was going in for, but only about half of young people .
Security footage from the morning of Feb. 13 showed Oh, 26, sprinting to the flaming BMW after it crashed into the building and caught fire.
It鈥檚 believed that she was filming her five companions drive at a dangerously high speed as a stunt when they slammed the car into the building at over 200kph.
She was the only survivor and sustained terrible burns trying to extricate the others.
The driver was identified as Jonathan Long, 29, and the passengers were Eugene Yap, 29; Elvin Tan Yong Hao, 28; Wilson Teo Qi Xiang, 26; and Gary Wong Hong Chieh, 29.
Friends of Oh told reporters that she has been 鈥渧ery positive鈥 and her fiance鈥檚 father said that Oh is still under rehabilitation, skin grafting and physical therapy.
