We鈥檝e seen plenty of road rage incidents, but never one quite like this.
The incident took place on Saturday along the Tuas Second Link bridge connecting Singapore and Johor, Malaysia. , it started when the cars were queuing to pass through the immigration checkpoint. A Toyota Alphard attempted to change lanes and ended up colliding with a red KIA.
In a video that was posted to the Singapore Incidents Instagram account that quickly went viral, a woman who had been in the KIA can be seen trying to prevent the Toyota from moving by pushing against it with all her might. She then turns around and presses her back against the car while she rips its license plate off. She then smashes the plate onto the Toyota鈥檚 windshield.
The KIA鈥檚 driver, a man in a blue shirt, then runs over and gives the minivan the middle finger before he and the woman hurry back to their car. The Alphard鈥檚 driver then gets out to retrieve the car鈥檚 license plate from the road.
Another video of the incident, posted by and taken from the dashcam of the Alphard shows an earlier part of the confrontation, with the woman defiantly standing in front of the car and refusing to move.
She can be seen with her phone out filming the car and its driver. Somebody can be heard calling her crazy. A man says they鈥檒l call the police, but the woman just nods and makes a face in response.
The Johor Police said they were investigating the incident under section 427 of the Malaysia Penal Code, which states that those guilty of mischief and damages of RM25 (US$ 5.65) or more could face fines and a jail sentence of up to two years.
