Singapore may not be on the map of global surfing destinations, but that didn鈥檛 stop some enthusiastic souls from hitting the waves this gloomy monsoon season.

Despite its lack of high-caliber waves, a squad of board-riders, groms and pros alike, caught some decent crests during yesterday鈥檚 drizzly afternoon along the coast by Changi.聽

鈥淚t鈥檚 Cranking,鈥 Surfing Association Singapore declared of the good-as-they-can-get conditions to its nearly 700 followers.

Though the meter-or-so waves were not enough to perform water barrel stunts, they were enough for some brief breaking and a good chance for children to give it a try. The surfers told reporters they have been camping there every afternoon since Sunday in hope the waves would swell to meet their dried-up boards.

Singapore is forecast to see through the rest of monsoon season, with thunderstorms hitting most areas daily. Highs through next week will be pegged at 30C, with lows of 24C.
