Girl leans dangerously from elevated track at SMRT Yio Chu Kang (Video)

A girl who appeared leaning dangerously over the railing of an elevated rail line at Yio Chu Kang station this afternoon was pulled back to safety.

Train operator SMRT said that the when escorted off of the tracks by the police at around 2pm. Train services between Ang Mo Kio and Yishun stations had been halted to rescue the unidentified girl.

鈥淎 female commuter at Yio Chu Kang station climbed over the half-height platform screen door and got onto the track,鈥 SMRT said in its statement, adding eyewitnesses on the train platform had activated the emergency stop button to alert ground staff.

鈥淭raction power was turned off, and the police and SCDF were immediately activated,鈥 it added, referring to the Singapore Civil Defence Force. The train operator also said it was assisting police with the investigation.

Video footage circulating online observing the girl as she leaned over the railing.

Calls to the defense force went unanswered.

Another image apparently shot on the scene had showed the girl holding onto the railing while an SBS transit officer reached up from the road below.
