The Fairprice Finest supermarket outlet in Bedok Mall has been shut three days for disinfection after an employee tested positive for COVID-19 last night, the chain announced today.听
The infected employee works 鈥渋n the backend replenishing stock鈥 and had been on leave since Thursday. Other employees from the store have been told to stay at home as much as possible as a precaution. The supermarket will reopen Saturday, it said in a statement.
鈥淔airPrice is extending all the necessary assistance to the affected staff and the employee鈥檚 family during this time,鈥 .听
鈥淔airPrice is monitoring the situation closely and is working with authorities to assist them with contact tracing and ensure all stores are safe for customers and staff,鈥 it added.听
The employee last went to work Wednesday and went to a clinic with a fever on Friday. The unidentified person has been quarantined since testing positive Monday night.听
鈥淭he co-operative apologises for any inconvenience caused and would like to assure the community that it is sparing no effort to protect its staff and customers so that they can continue to work and shop in a safe and healthy environment,鈥 the statement added.听
The supermarket outlet is located on the basement level of Bedok Mall. Other supermarkets that shoppers can go to in the vicinity include the Sheng Siong supermarket, which is about a five-minute walk from the mall and an NTUC Fairprice outlet at Blk 212 Bedok North Street 1.
COVID-19 has infected 926 and killed three in Singapore as of today. Four of the reported last night were linked to a new outbreak cluster at a worker鈥檚 dormitory on Toh Guan Road.
