It goes without saying that Changi Airport is one of Singapore’s crown jewels. The airport has won awards in the past, but this time it’s outdone even itself to be聽voted the world’s best airport for the sixth year in a row.
With this honor, it聽marks the first time since the debuted in 2000 that an airport has held on to the top spot for six consecutive years. (Previously, Hong Kong International Airport maintained its title for five years from 2001 to 2005.)
In other words, damn, we’re good.
All in all, this is the ninth time that Changi Airport has been bestowed with the honor.
Elsewhere, Seoul’s Incheon International Airport came in second, with Tokyo’s Haneda Airport at third place. Rounding up the top ten list were Hong Kong International Airport, Doha’s Hamad International Airport, Munich Airport, Nagoya’s Central Japan International Airport, London’s Heathrow Airport, Zurich Airport, and Frankfurt Airport.
Changi Airport also picked up the Best Airport for Leisure Amenities award聽鈥 one it has clinched since the category was introduced in 2009聽鈥 and the title of Best Airport in Asia.
The 2018 awards were based on 13.73 million airport survey questionnaires completed by聽at least 100 nationalities of travelers from August 2017 to February 2018, spanning across more than 500 airports around the world. Traveler experiences from check-in and arrivals to transfers and shopping to security and immigration were evaluated.
