A YouTuber live-streaming his entire quarantine at a posh hotel has apologized for comparing his experience to that of a Nazi concentration camp.

Travel vlogger Jason Ng, who today is closing out day 11 of his 14-day live from the Carlton Hotel, apologized yesterday after he was flamed as ungrateful and insensitive for comparing his arrival experience to that of victims of the Holocaust.

鈥淚 apologize if my sentiment and analogy appears offensive. It is not my intention to be offensive and I do not wish to disrespect anybody. I sincerely apologize to those who feels offended by my video,鈥 he wrote in reply to a complaint left , the day of his arrival.

It was in that video that Ng, who had not returned to his native Singapore in 17 years, complained about being kept in the dark during the intake process.

鈥淚 think the process could have been done a lot better because the process honestly made me feel like I was being ushered in a Nazi concentration camp,鈥 he said, describing the way staff communicated as 鈥渁 very totalitarian, dictator kind of thing.鈥澛

People were quick to jump Ng, saying in many comments that he should have more respect for victims of the Holocaust. Others called him 鈥渦ngrateful鈥 for the taxpayer-footed stay at the five-star hotel.聽

鈥淒o have some respect for those who went through the Holocaust. You knew you were going to some hotel (even though you don’t know which). They didn’t even know where they will be next,鈥 viewer Jared Chan yesterday, to which Ng responded with his apology.聽

Messages sent to Ng seeking comment since yesterday had not been not responded to as of publication time.

鈥淲hat a stark contrast, comparing this to the time of the Holocaust, during the war. Where people were literally marched, tortured, gassed and worked to death,鈥 Ebonyloveivory wrote. 鈥淎t the end of the day, this is for your safety and the safety of others. It’s not for your amusement or entertainment.鈥

His channel has close to 20,000 subscribers and generally features Ng鈥檚 travel content as well as his thoughts on skin care, spirituality and languages.
