The anonymous source of accusations that have embroiled successful YouTube channel Night Owl Cinematics in a much-talked-about scandal hired high-profile lawyers of their own today today.

A day after the owner of was cease and desisted by the channel’s attorney for alleging its founder abused staff and cheated on her former partner, the unidentified person behind the account announced they had engaged Eugene Thuraisingam LLP, a reputed criminal defense firm.

“Thank you all for your kind words and support. To update, I have instructed Eugene Thuraisingam LLP to act for me,” it wrote today, attaching a copy of the firm’s response.

“Your letter has not alleged that they are untrue,” it said of Night Owl’s response to the allegations last night.

The channel, represented by ​​Edmund Pereira Law Firm, had hit back yesterday at those allegations, saying the leaked conversations and voice recordings uploaded to Instagram were “serious breaches of privacy laws” and part of an orchestrated smear campaign.

Most of the accusations first posted Friday targeted cofounder Sylvia Chan, claiming she denigrated employees by calling them names like “selfish noisy slut” and “fuck face.” It even suggested that she had cheated in her very public marriage to cofounder Ryan Tan. 

Colgate and Milo severed ties with Chan in response after coming under pressure online.

The person behind the account, masked by a plate of chicken rice, has not been identified. Their new legal team told ������ it had no comment on the matter and could not disclose their client’s identity.

Chan has not responded to multiple messages since Friday. Last night’s company statement blasting the allegations was the closest she’s come to publicly addressing them.

Eugene Thuraisingam, who has been practicing law over two decades, has handled numerous high-profile cases, including those involving murder and harassment that have gone to trial. He was the leading criminal defense lawyer in Singapore last year, according to Doyles Guide.
