Gear up for National Day next week by bingeing on Singaporean television classics like Phua Chu Kang and The Noose when they appear on Netflix.听
The video streaming service today announced a lineup of 100 local shows slated to appear on the platform over the coming months in celebration of the city-state鈥檚 independence on Aug. 9.听
The lineup also includes Singaporean films like horror-flick The Maid and comedies I Not Stupid and Just Follow Law.听听
鈥淪o…we decided to get our SG pride on a little early,鈥 Netflix wrote in its announcement.听
Other shows to look out for include family dramas Singapore Dreaming and Homerun. These are among the 39 shows that will be released on Saturday.
The next slate of shows include Chinese-language comedy Liang Po Po: The Movie, one of Singapore鈥檚 longest running television shows Growing Up, as well as the greatest hits from TV sitcom Phua Chu Kang Ltd.听
Other nostalgic gems include iconic TV sitcom Under One Roof and satire news series The Noose.
The upcoming shows will join the more than 20 English- and Chinese-language Singapore films and television series that are already on the platform, such as the critically acclaimed drama The Little Nonya, comedy Ah Boys to Men and the Netflix Original docuseries Singapore Social that was mocked for its inauthenticity.听听
