It has been months since whispers among F&B industry insiders in Singapore circulated one very exciting possibility: Shake Shack might be setting up shop right here at Jewel Changi Airport soon.

An unverified Instagram account, , recently popped up, bringing back rumors that the cult American fast-food chain is coming to Singapore in 2019. Boom.

It was in May that first revealed that the popular burger joint has reportedly offered licensing rights to Korean F&B company SPC Group, the ones behind the Paris Baguette franchise here. It kind of makes sense, since the brand joined forces with the group to launch its outlets in South Korea, where the potato flour burger buns are baked by none other than Paris Baguette.

However, as of late March, the marketing manager over at Shake Shack’s global licensing arm directly confirmed to EatBook that the any time soon. Perhaps they changed their minds once they saw all the ensuing hype?

For those trying to figure out what’s the big deal with Shake Shack: The franchise enjoys a cult following for its Shack Burger — loved for its juicy, antibiotic-free Angus flat beef patty topped with signature sauce — and its crinkle fries. Hell, the burgers even got an official approval by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife last year when they traipsed across the globe for an official working visit to Washington DC.
