Sanchez, who appeared in the show聽The Greatest Love, announced the development in an Instagram post today, in which she showed the results of their tests from the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa.

The 48-year-old actress wrote that on Tuesday last week, she and her husband were brought to Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City after they fell ill.

“We were made to take the COVID-19 swab test and since then, Art and I have self-isolated. A week later, we finally received the results and we both came out positive for COVID-19,” she wrote.

Sanchez asked those who came in contact with her and her husband to watch out for symptoms such as shortness of breath, cough, fever, diarrhea, and sore throat.

“Art and I are getting better each day. Although this is slower than our usual recovery, we know that with prayers and strict compliance with our doctor鈥檚 orders, we will get there. Until then, we will keep you updated on how this progresses. Stay safe, healthy and take your 1000mg of vitamin C and 20mg of zinc daily! Most importantly, stay home to help prevent the spread of the virus,” she said.

A veteran who has worked for more than 20 years in the entertainment industry, Sanchez is also the mother of two actors, Arjo Atayde and Ria Atayde. She is best known for her performances in the indie film Jesusa and the romantic drama 础濒辞苍别/罢辞驳别迟丑别谤.听

Sanchez isn’t the showbiz figure to contract the virus. Prior to her announcement, fellow actress Iza Calzado announced that she too had tested positive for COVID-19, though a subsequent test showed that she has since recovered from the illness. Actor Christopher de Leon also announced earlier this month that he had contracted the novel coronavirus.

Meanwhile, veteran actor Domingo 鈥淢enggie鈥 Cobarrubias, best known for his performance in the movie 闯补驳耻补谤,听passed away due to pneumonia earlier this month. He died before receiving the results of a COVID-19 test, and it’s unclear whether his pneumonia was caused by the disease.
