Thailand’s state-sanctioned weed farmers are preparing to reap what they鈥檝e sown.

The seeds planted earlier this year by government growers tasked with overseeing cannabis cultivation have sprouted into 140 healthy marijuana plants, the Government Pharmaceutical Organization has announced.

It should take another couple months and change for the plants to blossom, after which they will be harvested and processed into cannabis oil for use in clinical trials, said the organization鈥檚 chairman, Sopon Mekthon.

The plants are being grown at the kingdom鈥檚 first-ever medical marijuana plantation at the Rangsit Pharmaceutical Production Plant in the northern outskirts of metro Bangkok.

Rangsit is also home to the kingdom鈥檚 first undergraduate marijuana studies program which was announced earlier this month and will cover topics such as cultivation tech.
